Since 2001 the EU-Japan Friendship Week integrates cultural, social, educational, academic and sports events taking place around May 9th - Europe Day.
Friendship Week aims to mix fun, friendly exchanges with information, and endeavours to give the Japanese public a chance to learn more about the European Union. The Delegation organizes selected events, and sponsors or encourages many others.
Some actions for 2009:
- 3rd Edition of the EU School Project: over 100 schools across Japan and 46.000 students receive EU diplomats. LINK
- EU Film Days, 7th edition of the film festival, for the first time with screening also in Kyoto.
- Football Match at the Urawa Reds stadium in Saitama. LINK
- Friendship Golf Competition at Harunanomori Country Club, Gunma Pref.
- European School Day in Tokyo
And - multiple events at the EU i (EU information centres) across Japan.
