Now in its seventh successful year, EU Film Days brings the best of European cinema to Tokyo!
The Delegation of the European Commission to Japan is very happy to present this year's edition once more in accordance with the National Film Center (NFC) of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. It is thanks to the NFC and the cooperation of EU Member States' embassies and cultural institutes that the annual festival can continue to flourish in 2009. The festival will take place as part of EU-Japan Friendship Week, during which a range of activities and events are held across Japan celebrating relations between Japan and Europe.
Twenty-one films will be shown in the festival, each having two showings over a three-week period. The 21 films have been chosen in order to exhibit the wide range of film-making talent in the 27-Member State European Union as well as the cultural diversity that the EU maintains.
Five of the 21 films are premièring this time in Japan—from Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia. Films from France and the Czech Republic will also enjoy their first theatrical showings in Japan, making this a unique chance to enjoy rare European film.
The festival will run from Friday 29 May until Saturday 20 June, and admission is just 500 yen per screening.
