Since 1963, the European Commission has founded about 500 European Info (EU i)(*) and 100 Depositary Libraries (DEPs) in the world. In Japan, 19 EU i are located in universities along with one DEP in the National Diet Library.
The EU i and DEP house the body of official publications of the European Union, such as, the Official Journal, Treaties, annual report, Bulletin of the EU, statistical publications, etc., and information materials on the each policy, which are provided by the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities in Luxembourg.
Those who would like to consult publications and documents on the EU are requested to make a visit to their nearest EU i or DEP. They are open to the general public (N.B.: the National Diet Library is open to those over 18 years of age).
Business enquiries of a more specific nature related to industry and in particular to the legislation on the regulatory framework of the Single Market are handled by the “Special EU i” located at the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation.
