ICT分野におけるFP7インフォメーション・デー開催報告

2011年10月20日、駐日欧州連合（EU）代表部と欧州委員会情報社会・メディア総局との共催で、EUの第７次研究枠組み計画（FP7）の下でのICT分野の第8次研究助成金公募に関するインフォーメーション・デーが開催されました。FP7の研究助成金公募は世界中の研究者に開かれており、欧州委員会は非EU加盟国の研究者の参加を奨励しています。このインフォメーション・デーは、ICT研究、特に光通信、セキュリティ、無線技術等への日本からの参加を促進することを目的に日本で開催されました。

まず、情報社会・メディア総局のBernard Barrani と Alison Birkettが第8次公募のトピックの紹介を行いました。その後、サリー大学のRahim TAFAZOLLI　教授による2020年以降のspectrum crunchの説明、the Waterford Institute of Technology　のTelecommunication, Software and Systems Group (TSSG)の Jim CLARKE氏による「ネットワークセキュリティ研究開発」、the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Instituteの Fahim NAWABI氏による「光技術」に関する説明がありました。

今回のイベントの開催にあたっては、日本の総務省から多大な支援を頂き、80名以上の部長レベルの日本人研究者が参加して欧州からの専門家とともに活発な議論を繰り広げました。

さらに、欧州研究者との共同プロジェクトで助成金公募に応募を検討中の日本人研究者のために、FP7のプログラムへの応募方法に詳しいEU側の講演者からは「仲介役」として活動するという提案がありました。イベント当日のスケジュールおよび講演資料に関しては以下をご参照ください。（講演者の名前をクリックすると講演資料が開きます。）
